“Our system was designed specifically for brokers,” says Vipin Pathania, Group COO. “We knew the market needed a platform that was fast, reliable, and easy to use.”

That foresight paid off. According to a recent survey by Cornwall Insight, PE’s system has been rated the best broker-facing platform — a recognition that underscores the company’s commitment to enabling efficient, scalable growth for its partners.

“Back when we were brokers ourselves,” Neeraj Bhatia, Group CEO recalls, “getting comparative tariff sheets for 50 customers used to take up to a week. With our system, it takes just two minutes.”

That speed has proven to be a game-changer. By making it easier for brokers to do business, PE has strengthened relationships, increased volume, and built a reputation for responsiveness.

Steve Daniels, Group Chief Sales Officer, points to the in-house development model as a major reason for that success.

“We don’t rely on third parties. Because we own the system, we can make improvements rapidly, adapt to regulatory changes, and respond to market shifts almost instantly.”

This flexibility has become even more valuable in recent years, as the sector has experienced significant regulatory and operational shifts. PE’s internal agility allows the business to pivot quickly, meet Ofgem requirements, and continue supporting customers and brokers without disruption.

“That ability to move fast is a key part of why we’ve succeeded,” Daniels adds. “And it’s something we’ll continue to invest in.”

Every great business has a humble beginning. For PE, that beginning was a modest office in Mersea Island, Colchester, with three staff and a vision to do things differently.

“When that first piece of business came through the door, we were jumping around in excitement,” recalls Steve Daniels, Group Chief Sales Officer. “We didn’t come from a corporation. We started from zero — just like many of our SME customers.”

That foundational experience shaped the way PE grew: organically, intentionally, and with an eye for efficiency. One of the key pillars of that journey? A strategic operations hub in India, led by Group COO Vipin Pathania.

“We built teams in India with a 24-hour model across three shifts,” says Vipin. “Our offices in Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai each bring a unique strength to the business.”

Chandigarh was chosen for its strong talent pool in operations and administration.

Ahmedabad became the hub for finance and tech, thanks to a supportive local infrastructure and government support for technology companies.
Mumbai, with its diverse and highly skilled professionals, offered superior language skills and experience from large corporates — making it the ideal place to strengthen customer-facing services.

Today, PE’s Indian operations represent more than just cost efficiency — they are a competitive advantage, powering a business that’s agile, responsive, and scalable.

Even as the business scales, the early values remain: stay lean, build smart, and put the customer experience.

In 2016, the energy and utility supply landscape was noisy, fragmented, and stuck in the past. With 146 licensed suppliers in the UK, many operating with outdated systems and poor broker relationships, the sector was crying out for change.

That’s when three industry professionals — Steve Daniels, Vipin Pathania, and Neeraj Bhatia — made a bold move. With years of experience behind them and a shared passion for improving the sector, they launched PE with a clear mission: to bring brokers to the forefront, serve the often-overlooked SME market, and build a business model that delivers real value.

“The suppliers were using archaic systems,” says Daniels. “It was taking too long to generate quotes, and customer experience wasn’t a priority.”

From the start, PE was different. The leadership team brought together two core advantages:

• A technology-first approach to streamline quotes, improve service, and automate outdated processes.
• A lean operational model based in India, which allowed them to keep acquisition and service costs low without compromising on quality.

But what really set PE apart was their deep understanding of the SME segment. Many of these businesses sit in the “middle market” — not big enough to be considered enterprise accounts, but too complex for traditional small-business solutions. This group had long been neglected by major suppliers.

“We’ve all worked in SMEs,” says Bhatia. “We’ve seen the pressures first-hand. And we knew we could do better.”

Since launching, PE has grown steadily, today holding roughly a third of market share in its sector.

The secret? Staying focused on long-term partnerships, continuous tech innovation, and putting customers and brokers first.
