About this Policy

This Cookie Policy relates to your use of our website and tells you what to expect when our website collects information. It applies to the information we collect about our visitors.

For further information on our use of cookies, including a detailed list of your information which we and others may collect through cookies, please see below.

What are Cookies?

A ‘Cookie’ is a small text file that is delivered by our website server onto your computer whilst you visit our website, which can subsequently be used by the website to identify particular devices and thereby remember your website preferences and login details. Most cookies will not collect information that identifies you and instead will collect more general information, such as how you arrived at and used our website or your general geographical location.

Web Storage

Web storage is used to store data locally within the user’s browser. There are two different types:

  • Session storage is used to store data until the end of the session (e.g. until the browser is closed).
  • Local storage is used to store data indefinitely, though this is dependent on the browser’s privacy settings.

Session cookies are temporary and expire once you close your browser (or once your session ends).

Local storage cookies encompass all cookies that remain in your device memory until you erase them or your browser does, depending on the cookie’s expiration date. All local storage cookies have an expiration date written into their code, but their duration can vary. According to the ePrivacy Directive (Directive 2002/58/EC), Opens in a new window they should not last longer than 12 months, but in practice, they could remain on your device much longer if you do not take action, therefore, you may wish to consider deleting your Cookies regularly.

First-Party and Third-Party Domains

Cookies and web storage exist on the first-party domain and the third-party domain.

First-party cookies are put on your device directly by the website you are visiting. They are primary used primarily used to allow website owners to collect analytics data, remember language settings and user names, and perform other useful functions that provide a good user experience (e.g. keeping track of items in the cart while shopping online).

Third-party cookies are placed on your device, not by the website you are visiting, but by a third party like an advertiser or an analytic system. They can be used for online advertising or to share login information across subdomains (e.g. example.com and shopping.example.com).

Why are Cookies needed?

Cookies make websites work better and are sometimes an essential part of websites. For example, they remember the items you have placed in your online shopping cart so that the items appear at the checkout when you make your purchase. Another example would be when you log in to your account to access a service. On such occasions, a cookie is generated that confirms you are logged in and when you log off the cookie is deleted and the session ended. This means that if someone goes back to a webpage on your computer, you will still be logged out.

For further information on cookies generally, including how to control and manage them, visit the guidance on cookies published by the UK Information Commissioner’s Office, or www.allaboutcookies.org.

What Cookies do we use?

We collect your data automatically via Cookies when you visit our website, in line with the Cookie settings in your browser, and through the Cookies that you activated when you selected various options on our Cookie Banner i.e. your customised Cookie settings.

We use cookies to track your activity to help ensure you get the best possible experience when visiting our website, for example, if you are using a shared computer, you stay logged out when you leave our website.
