We’re proud to be partnering with Michels & Taylor (M&T) Hotel Management to bring new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations to hotels across the UK — supporting guests, local communities, and the planet.
This rollout is part of a broader sustainability strategy from M&T, one of the UK’s leading hotel management, advisory and asset management companies. Under the leadership of energy expert Chris Spires, the business has already cut over 1,000 tonnes of CO₂e in the past five years — and this is the next step in their journey to reduce emissions and increase energy efficiency across their portfolio.
Real benefits for guests and the bottom line
EV chargers are already live at:
- Hilton Bournemouth – now the largest public EV charging facility in the seaside town
- DoubleTree by Hilton Elstree
- DoubleTree by Hilton Stoke-on-Trent
And six more sites — including Holiday Inn Bolton, DoubleTree by Hilton Cheltenham, and The Welcombe Hotel — are set to go live by the end of 2025.
Our dual-socket stations deliver up to 22kW of charging power for two vehicles at once. No apps, no hassle — just tap, charge and go.
What’s more, PE offers a fixed national EV charging rate of just 57p/kWh — significantly lower than the UK average of 80p for PAYG chargers. This makes it more affordable for customers and more rewarding for hotels that generate revenue from every charge, with those earnings deducted from their monthly energy bills.
“With EV adoption rising and public charging demand growing fast, hotels need to adapt to remain competitive,” said Nathan Daniels, Head of EV Charging at PE.
“These installations are not only environmentally significant — they’re also commercially smart, bringing in extra footfall and giving guests another reason to choose a hotel. We’re proud to support M&T in delivering reliable, fast EV charging that’s simple to use and accessible to everyone.”
Sustainability that makes business sense
For M&T, the decision to go electric is about more than just compliance — it’s a strategic investment in customer experience, operational efficiency, and long-term value.
Peter Hales, Managing Director at M&T, explained:
“The ability to offer convenient, on-site EV charging gives our hotels a genuine advantage. Our guests and local communities get the benefit of charging access while enjoying on-site restaurants, bars or leisure facilities. It’s a win-win.
“With rising operational costs, ESG strategies have to work hard. These chargers are a clear example of how sustainable choices can also deliver strong returns.”
And with EV sales expected to grow by 21% in 2025, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), the demand for hotel-based charging is only going in one direction.
